Kurestin Armada began her publishing career as an intern with Workman Publishing, and spent time as an assistant at The Lotts Agency and an agent at P.S. Literary before joining Root Literary. She holds a B.A. in English from Kenyon College, as well as a publishing certificate from Columbia University. Kurestin is based in New York City, most of her time in the city’s thriving indie book stores.

She’s seeking:

ADULT
-an ambitious, page-turning space opera with interesting secrets to uncover, in the vein of REVELATION SPACE

-romance with speculative elements/speculative fiction with romance elements that’s fun and heart-pounding with interesting world building elements, in the vein of SILVER IN THE WOOD or the works of K.J. Charles, particularly from queer and/or POC authors

-horror fiction that’s fresh and updated and in conversation with the books coming out now in the way that the best horror movies are that day; preferably something atmospheric over grisly

-epic fantasy that evokes classic, familiar titles while bringing a new spin and bright, modern voice, in the style of THE UNSPOKEN NAME

YOUNG ADULT
-a mix of contemporary and speculative that’s fun/funny/romantic in tone

-horror that leans on spooky

-historical with a twist that has a bright, contemporary voice

MIDDLE GRADE
-mystery with a strong voice, lovable cast of characters, and series potential like THREE TIMES LUCKY

…but I’m in no way limited to just those things! Like I said, I love to be surprised, so if you think we might be a match I’d love to see it.
